Career-high 30 for Mikalatos not enough to take down Loyola

MISSOULA — By the end of Saturday’s 6B clash with Missoula Loyola, Anaconda was left with nobody on the bench and one foul away from playing with four.

Mikalatos

Loyola mixed patience and passing on the offensive side with a dedicated effort to stop Braxton Hill defensively, notching a 73-62 win over Anaconda at Sister Rita Mudd Athletic Center.
With the loss, Anaconda has now dropped two-straight and are sitting in third place in the 6B behind Florence and Loyola.
Anaconda’s Trent Mikalatos went off for a career-high 30 points, but foul trouble eventually caught up to the Copperheads. Zeke Buck, Hill and Bobby Swainston all fouled out in the fourth quarter not to mention a technical foul assessed to head coach Bill Hill after arguing unsuccessfully that Braxton’s foul was only his fourth.**
Jack Lincoln scored 18 of his 26 points after the half along with three others in double figures (Joe McElroy 18, Jacob Hollenback 10, Charles Burns 10) for the Rams.
Hill scored 11 for Anaconda, along with Kylar Gochanour’s eight and Swainston’s six. Michael Galle chipped in for two.
Anaconda will be back in action Thursday for a doubleheader against Whitehall at Memorial Gymnasium. Both games can be heard live on http://copperheadcountry.airtime.pro
** The stat program I use also only had Braxton Hill with four fouls at the time he was disqualified
Anaconda 21 12 15 14 — 62
Loyola  15 25 11 22 — 73
Anaconda — Trent Mikalatos 30, Braxton Hill 11, Kyler Gochanour 8, Bobby Swainston 6, Michael Galle 2.
Loyola — Jack Lincoln 26, Scotty Twite 3, Jacob Hollenback 10, Charles Burns 10, David Koppang 4, Joey McElroy 18.
